Attractions around Wrenbury Marina

Beeston Castle

If you are looking for an exciting day out, Beeston Castle, just a 15 minute drive away from Wrenbury Mill, is well worth a visit. Incredible views over the Cheshire countryside reward those brave enough to take the steep walk up to the top of the castle, or the 40 acres of surrounding woodland offer a huge variety of different walks and trails around the park to suit everyone’s taste. The castle museum is also not to be missed, and if visiting with children, special event days that are held throughout the year are particularly impressive, with entertainment such as exciting battle demonstrations and archery competitions. The park boasts plenty of open space, including picnic areas, so pack your picnic and take the whole family. There is also a small café on site serving refreshments and snacks. It is, however, advisable to check opening hours as they vary dependent on the time of year.

Hack Green Secret Nuclear Bunker

For an exciting, yet informative day out, the Hack Green Secret Nuclear Bunker is a great all-weather attraction for the whole family, only a 10 minute drive from the marina. The huge 35,000sqft underground complex with it’s labyrinth of corridors remained secret for over 50 years, but is today open to the public as an exciting and eye-opening insight into what life was like in a secret defence headquarters during the cold war. It is home to the largest public display of nuclear weapons in Europe, offers many hands on activities, as well as videos and information throughout. For children, there is an interactive secret agent trail following a soviet spy mouse around the centre, so everyone can really get involved in a great day out. At the end of your visit, there is canteen serving wartime themed food and drink and a gift shop selling various military souvenirs. Opening times vary dependent on the time of year, so it is advisable to check online before you visit.
